EDITING THE "GRANT" VIDEO OF THE ICELAND PROJECT HAS BEGUN
Tim Baur. Tim has begun editing the "grant" video of the Iceland project (there will be a longer documentary also). The plan is to compose two videos, one that is shorter and one that is longer and more of a documentary of the trip. Design, Build, Ride, the “grant video“ will be the first.
Tim Baur does amazing work, and last week we took some time to conceptualize the video and he began to compose and edit.
The video begins with an image I created that is made up of an autocad drawing I did of the bicycle frame we built for the 2023 trip across Iceland, east west, a project I’ve titled Design, Build, Ride, 601 miles to Látrabjarg (which with the 2022 north/south crossing of Iceland is part of …Between Volcanoes and Glaciers). The frame drawing is overlaid onto a photographic image of Iceland.
On Sunday Tim shot video of me tracing the route, each of the ten sections (days), and the entire 601 mile course we took in July.
Tim also shot video of me working on the drawing of the frame that I actually began creating over a year ago but had not finished. (That sure worked out well!)
The video opens with the map image and Tor i Helheim, a song by Myrkur, the banner for Danish singer/song writer Amalie Bruun. Then Tim uses footage he shot as we departed Látrabjarg. You see the climbing up and out of the fjord (2,000’ in 5 miles), much of it is walking.
As we begin to ride (in the video) the song Huldra , by the Norwegian group Gåte starts.
The idea is to visually chronicle the landscape as we ride from east to west, and through the central highlands.
